These easy Gluten-Free Homemade Dog Treats with pumpkin, peanut butter, rolled oats, and maple syrup, are a healthy treat for your favorite furry friend.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper of a silpat.
In the bowl of a food processor, add oats and pulse until you have a course oat flour. Then add pumpkin, peanut butter, and maple syrup.
Pulse, then process on high until all ingredients are incorporated and a dough forms. You may need to stop it occasionally to wipe down sides of bowl.
Transfer dough to a silpat or parchment-lined pastry board. Roll dough to ¼ inch thickness. To keep dough from sticking to rolling pin, place an additional piece of parchment paper on top of dough.
Use a cookie cutter and press shapes into the dough, then place them onto the prepared baking sheet. Pull away extra dough and reroll. Bake for 12-15 minutes, edges should start to golden. Allow gluten-free dog biscuits to cool completely on the baking sheet before storing them in an airtight container.
Notes
To store: Store dog treats at room temperature in an airtight container for 5-7 days.To freeze: Place treats in a freezer-safe ziplock bag and freeze up to 3 months.
Since this recipe makes a large number of biscuits, freeze a portion and take them out as needed.
I used thiscookie cutter to make bone shapes, but any cookie cutter or small lid will work to cut out the dough.
If you don't have a food processor, use a high-powered blender to blitz your oats, then transfer to a large bowl and stir all ingredients together.
