Ingredients

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, add water, organic cane sugar, and blackberries. Bring to a simmer then lower heat, stirring frequently until sugar dissolves into water.
  • Once blackberries start to break apart when gently pressed with a spoon, remove from heat. Allow syrup to cool completely before transferring to a storage container.
  • Strain simple syrup and discard solids or save them to use later. Store in a sterile airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Notes

  • Sterilize your jar or container ahead of time by filling it with boiling water, making sure to pour some over the lid or cap too. Pour out the hot water when you are ready to fill the jar with the syrup.
  • This syrup will last in the refrigerator in an airtight container for 1-2 weeks. Or, divide the syrup into ice cube trays and keep it in the freezer for up to 3 months. That way you can have that sweet blackberry flavor anytime!
  • Use the leftover stewed blackberries as a topper on yogurt or oatmeal!
