This healthy Avocado Chocolate Mousse is a healthy indulgence made with simple ingredients. Thick and rich, it has a decadent texture. Gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan.
Soak dates in warm water in a blender bowl for 10 minutes, then drain.
Add the avocados and cocoa powder to the dates. Add the almond milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract. Blend until smooth, stopping occasionally to scrape down the sides of blender. Add additional almond milk if needed to achieve desired consistency.
Serve immediately or refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving to chill. Garnish with chocolate chips or shavings, cacao nibs, whipped cream, berries, or a sprinkle of sea salt if desired. Best eaten day of making.
Notes
Dates - You can use other kinds of dates such as Deglet, but they won't be as sweet. You may want to use an extra date or two for sweetness.Almond milk - You can use other types of plant-based milk. Usually, 2 tablespoons get the consistency I like, but add an extra tablespoon or two based on your desired consistency. Maple syrup - Agave nectar or honey (not vegan) can be substituted. Both of these subs are slightly sweeter than maple syrup.
