Ingredients

  • 2 ounces white rum
  • 1 ½ ounces lime juice freshly squeezed is preferable
  • 1 ounce orange liqueur such as Cointreau or Triple Sec
  • ¼ ounce agave syrup
  • lime wedge for garnish
  • kosher or sea salt optional for rimming the glass

Instructions

  • Rim a cocktail glass with salt then fill it with ice cubes.
  • In a cocktail shaker or cocktail mixing glass, add ice cubes and then the white rum, lime juice, orange liqueur, and agave. Shake vigorously (or stir) to combine. Strain into a prepared margarita glass.
  • Garnish with a lime wedge.

Notes

Orange liqueur - Cointreau, Triple Sec, and Grand Marnier all work well. Don't have it? You can replace it with orange juice for a less boozy drink.
