Ingredients and substitutions
Here are a few quick notes about the ingredients in this recipe. You can see a complete list of ingredients and instructions in the recipe card below.
Honeydew melon - Use a whole melon or use store-bought pre-cut honeydew chunks.
White rum - Use your favorite white rum here.
Lime juice - Fresh lime juice is best.
Agave nectar or honey - Agave syrup tends to be a bit sweeter than honey. If using honey, add more to taste if needed.
Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Place all ingredients in a blender except crushed ice. Blend, starting at low speed and move up to high speed until the honeydew is pureed. Add crushed ice and blend again until incorporated.
Step 2: Pour in two classes, garnish with lime or melon balls, and a straw if desired.
Helpful tip

I feel like honeydew is incredibly underused and under appreciated. I really love how you've used it here Tessa. And I'm sorry it has taken me like a month to tell you, but thanks for hanging with us for #DRINKTHESUMMER 2016! xx
Tessa
Agreed, and I'm totally guilty for under appreciating it. ;) Thanks for hosting such a fun party!! xoxo

Turned out quite lovely! My limes and melons must be gigantic, because it only took a quarter melon and half lime to hit the measures listed. It is beautiful, and I love that each individual ingredient can be tasted in the final product. I used Dented Brick distillery's Antelope Island rum. Thanks for this winner!!
Tessa
I am so very glad! Haha, we must be getting cheated over here on the larger produce! ;) Thanks for sharing what rum you used - I just checked out their website, very cool!

Honeydew is one of my favorite fruits Tessa, so now that you've included it in a yummy cocktail, I'm all in! Sounds so refreshing!
Tessa
Yay! Wish we could enjoy these together! That would be fun. :) Thank you, Mary Ann!

I suspect with the ramp up and launch of the new school year, this is a very busy time for you. I'm loving the sounds of your last-hurrah in Colorado though; how great that you were able to make it happen. Honeydew is one of the most delicious and underutilized fruits out there! What a perfect way to celebrate their unique taste and beauty. Your photos capture the cool, refreshing quality beautifully.
Tessa
You are so right - the last few weeks have been a whirlwind around here. Trying not to get overwhelmed at the moment, ha! :) Honeydew is so underutilized! Growing up I was a "canteloupe only" kid and now am so glad I'm out of that phase and open to the world of honeydew. Thanks so much, Kelly! xo
Rachel @ Bakerita
So many delicious drinks, but this one looks so beautifully frosty and absolutely delicious! Love the green color, and it sound so refreshing. I've got to get my hands on one of these!
Tessa
Thanks, Rachel! It truly works well for these hot muggy days we have been having! Hopefully the weather there isn't so oppressive. Honeydew makes for such a fun green, doesn't it?! xo

I gotta say, Rum is only second to bourbon in my book. LOVE this creative cocktail, Tessa! I cut into a honeydew last week and it was sweeter than I ever remember, so I can see how it would be a perfect pairing with rum! It's so fun when inspiration hits! And what a fun #drinkthesummerparty!
Tessa
You and I will have to have a cocktail in a few weeks! I really had forgotten how tasty a rum drink can be - so good! Same goes with honeydew. Thank you, dear Traci! xo
Sarah
I want to sip that honeydew concoction down in one big gulp! (Is that an oxymoron?)
Tessa
Bahaha. It's the best kind of oxymoron. I say one big sip-gulp is the way to do it!

I can't think of daquiris without thinking of Baskin Robbins Daquiri Ice flavor, which I always loved ordering as a kiddo because it made me feel decidedly grown up (even if it is completely non-alcoholic). The color of these kinda brings me back to that, so naturally I'm 100% on board. Plus I UH-DHORE honeydew. Happy #drinkthesummer!
Tessa
I didn't even realize BR had a daiquiri ice flavor back in the day! I would have loved that. I was probably too obsessed with eating my ice cream out of a mini baseball helmet. Haha. Glad you are on board - honeydew can work some magic!
Todd Wagner | HonestlyYUM
There needs to be more honeydew cocktails in the world...especially of the rum variety!
Tessa
I whole-heartedly agree. :) Thanks, Todd!!
