- Organic cane sugar
- Cardamom seeds (or pods)
- Cinnamon stick
- Lemon peel
- Pure vanilla extract
How to Make Cardamom-Infused Simple Syrup
Grab your ingredients and a saucepan. Here are the steps to cardamom syrup:
- Toast your cardamom seeds in a small saucepan over medium heat.
- Add organic cane sugar, water, lemon peel, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.
- Heat and stir mixture until sugar has dissolved.
- Simmer for 20 minutes and remove from heat.
- Cool syrup completely.
- Strain into a clean and sterile airtight glass bottle or container.
- Store in the refrigerator for one week.

Cardamom Simple Syrup
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup organic cane sugar
- 1 teaspoon cardamom seeds (or 1 ½ teaspoon cardamom pods, split open)
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 lemon peel
- ¼ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- Toast your cardamom seeds in a small saucepan over medium heat for one minute. (If using cardamom pods, use the flat side of a knife to split pods open one at a time. You can place the pods in the saucepan as well.)
- Add water, organic cane sugar, lemon peel, cinnamon stick, and vanilla extract.
- Heat and stir occasionally until sugar has dissolved.
- Turn down heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat. Allow syrup to cool completely.
- Strain cardamom syrup into a clean and sterile airtight glass bottle or container.
- Store in the refrigerator for one week.

I’ve made this recipe 3x since discovering it a few weeks ago—I’ve used it in coffee, cortados with a cardamom sugar rim, cocktails (tequila, grapefruit, and egg whites). So delicious!
I subbed the cinnamon stick for a few cloves, just because that’s what I had on hand. So good all the same!
