Ingredients and substitutions
Here are a few quick notes about the ingredients in this recipe. You can see a complete list of ingredients and instructions in the recipe card below.
Ripe avocados - Fresh ripe avocados should yield slightly to pressure but still feel firm.
Mango - This fruit is a great source of vitamin C, dietary fiber, folate, potassium, and vitamin A. You'll want to use ripe mangos for the best flavor. If peeling and dicing a mango seems like it could be a pain, this tutorial on how to cut a mango makes it a cinch.
Jalapeño - Fresh jalapeño adds a nice crunch and kick! Feel free to omit it for a less spicy dip.
Red onion - The strong, naturally spicy taste of red onion is perfect in this tropical guacamole.
Ground coriander, garlic powder, chili powder, and cayenne pepper - These pantry spices round out the flavors in the guac. Use fresh cilantro in place of coriander if you prefer.
Lime juice - Adds a tangy zip! Lemon juice can be substituted.
Tessa's Tip: The easiest and most efficient way to throw together this guacamole dip is to prep your diced fruits and veggies first. You can even do this ahead of time (except for avocado) and keep in in airtight containers in the refrigerator.
Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: In a large bowl, add avocados. Mash avocados with a fork so that some bigger chunks remain. Add coriander, garlic powder, chili powder, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper. Stir to combine.
Step 2: Fold in red onion, diced mango, jalapeño, and lime juice to evenly incorporate. Add more salt to taste, if needed.
