    Ingredients and Substitutions

Here are a few quick notes about the ingredients in this recipe. You can see a complete list of ingredients and instructions in the recipe card below.

Olive oil, two avocado halves, limes, dried spices, and water laid out on a marble surface.

Ripe avocado - Makes for a nice and creamy texture.

Extra virgin olive oil - Use high-quality olive oil as the base of the dressing. You can substitute any neutral oil, like avocado oil, in its place.

Lime juice - Adds a bright, citrus flavor. Lemon juice can be substituted but will alter the flavor slightly.

Garlic powder and dried parsley - One fresh garlic clove can be substituted for dried garlic. If using fresh, the dressing should be stored no longer than 3 days. You can substitute the dried parsley with fresh herb by using 1.5 teaspoons of fresh chopped parsley.

    Step-By-Step Instructions

Before you start: Prepare your ingredients. Here's a pro tip for cutting open an avocado.

Step 1: Place avocado, olive oil, lime juice, garlic powder, dried parsley, salt, black pepper, and water in a high-speed blender or food processor.

Step 2: Blend until smooth and creamy. Add extra water if needed to reach desired consistency.

    Tips

    • Store the creamy vegan avocado lime dressing in an airtight container or jar in the refrigerator.
    • To prevent browning on the top, place a piece of plastic wrap right on the surface of the dressing and then cover it with an airtight lid or top.

    Serving Suggestions

This creamy avocado dressing can be used for a variety of recipes. Here are some ideas to get you started:

    • Drizzle on burrito bowls and your favorite grain bowl
    • Use as a topping instead of avocados
    • Dip French fries or fresh veggies
    • Schmear on a sandwich
    • Use as a vegan salad dressing for a healthy salad
    • Top tacos, burritos, totchos, and nachos!

    FAQs

How long does creamy vegan avocado dressing last?

This vegan dressing with fresh ingredients can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. The lime juice will keep it from browning for that time.

How do you tell if an avocado is ripe?

The outside of a whole avocado should go from dark green to almost black in color when ripe. If the avocado gives slightly to gentle pressure, the avocado should be ripe.

How do you ripen avocados quickly?

Place avocados in a brown paper bag next to a banana or an apple for 2-3 days. The ethylene gas that is produced helps in the ripening process.
